The Japan Meteorological Association announced on September 28th that it will begin providing a"reliable information service for sunshine forecast".This is a service that can quantitatively grasp the reliability of sunshine forecast in units of 30 minutes within the next 7 hours.Available from October 3rd.

　　It is envisioned to be used for predicting the output of photovoltaic power generation,which is easily influenced by weather,in order for power companies to improve the efficiency of supply and demand planning in the power grid.

　　This service can consider the risk of changes in photovoltaic power generation output relative to predicted values to ensure appropriate backup power,thus enabling stable and efficient operation of the power grid.

　　The service analyzes the trend of weather changes based on past sunshine observations,extracts similar past and current day predictions,analyzes the prediction tendency of such similar cases(the difference between the predicted and actual values as of the current day),and provides reliable sunshine forecast information that takes into account weather characteristics.
